Go-Go Artists Available for School Visits

Thanks to support from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Teaching for Change is scheduling artists for classroom visits (in person and virtual) in D.C. public and public charter schools from now through September.

These visits are part of our Teach the Beat initiative to ensure that students learn the rich history and the various stylistic elements related to the go-go music genre, drawing on the vast array of performers in D.C., scholars, and the experience of teachers who grew up with go-go.

The classroom visits are designed to engage students in learning about go-go and they are not performances, although of course they are joyful. The go-go artists we work with have experience in classrooms from pre-K to 12. The artist can visit your class once, or you can request a series of two to three visits to build depth of understanding and experience.
