About this event

Join EmpowerEd and D.C. Area Educators for Social Justice for the 2024 Unapologetically Black Educator Storylounge as part of the the Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action (Feb 5-9)!

This event is an opportunity for Black educators across DC to share + support the work of creating transformational, antiracist schools. As part of the 2024 Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action, we must end the racist policies and lack of teacher voice which led to a drastic decline in Black DC educators. Led by BLM at School's 4 demands, it's time to ensure "Black Teacher Pushout Ends Now!" The Unapologetically Black Educator Storylounge is a space to celebrate Black joy, share the challenges we fight against, and take part in the tremendous impact and community of our city's Black educators.

Appetizers and one free drink of your choice will be provided. Additional food and drink options are available for purchase. Our event will be located in the back room of Creole on 14th, a short walk from the Columbia Heights Metro Station. Public parking is available next door at DC USA Mall.
